The Sports Jags:
Shawney Kersey was the redshirt junior wide out that was supposed to help lead Penn State’s super young and super duper inexperienced receiving corps. Welp, not anymore.
Penn State’s wide receiving corps took another hit Tuesday when starter Shawney Kersey left the team. fb.me/2h65VFpti

Lions247 said it was for personal reasons but now the rumors through the trees are saying Bill O’Brien gave Kersey the boot. Reports of Kersey not getting along with teammates and starting **** at practice have started to surface…but that seems like a bit of a stretch for kicking someone off a football team.
Kersey was nursing a bum ankle for most of spring practice but he still won the starting job opposite Allen Robinson (not that there was a whole lot to pick from). The Lions are definitely going to miss Kersey’s experience more than anything. He was the only returning receiver with more than 3 catches, and through two games this year, he’s grabbed 6 passes for 44 yards but only had 1 catch against Virginia…was that a precursor?
With Kersey gone, Alex Kenney jumps up to WR2 and that leaves a mess at the third receiver spot. Kenney and Allen Robinson are the only wide outs to make a catch so far. Matt Zanellato is next in line on the depth chart and at 6’3, 198, the white boy would be a nice target for Matt McGloin. After him, it’s two true freshmen; Trevor Williams put together a nice little camp and Eugene Lewis is a house with big-play potential.
It definitely sucks to lose a supposed leader but with BOB’s love of tight ends, and with the addition of Paul Jones to that unit, losing Kersey may not be as big a deal as we’re making it out to be. ARob and Kenney will get their looks but the tight ends could start stealing the show before the younger receivers get extra work with only three practices until Navy.

Penn State University will be doling out money for years to come.
The New York Daily News is reporting that former Penn State Assistant coach Mike McQueary plans to sue the university.
McQueary who is a former quarterback for the Nittany Lions will now be remembered for being the graduate assistant who walked in on Jerry Sandusky in the shower with a young boy in 2001.
Kicking woes underscore a larger problem for Penn State.
Coach Bill O'Brien's offense will need to improve in the red zone if the Nittany Lions plan on making any splash in the Big Ten. It's getting tough enough after an 0-2 start in nonconference play.

I want you to read this with an open mind, if you will. I ask this because I am fully aware of the fact that for many Penn State fans any change to the way the game day atmosphere can be seen as a negative, but this is clearly a new era that will open up new ideas for a program that needs to move forward.
This weekend the San Diego Chargers will hold their own version of the White...
Penn State already faces four lawsuits over the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal, and at least 20 people with potential claims have already surfaced. It's unclear how many will press claims against Penn State or whether more will surface.

And here we figured gay North Dakota footballer Jaime Kuntz would use his Twitter account to give us the gay plague. Nope, the guy seems pretty damn normal. He likes pumpkin lattes, thinks Peyton Manning has a big head and he just wants to play DI college football. Shockingly, we didn’t even feel the least bit gay after reading Jamie’s timeline @Jamie_Kuntz.
Nearly three months after Penn State said it wanted to settle ''privately, expeditiously and fairly'' with the boys Jerry Sandusky sexually abused, lawyers for the victims from his criminal case and other potential claimants say the school has not followed up with concrete action.
The attorneys told The Associated Press in recent days that had very limited contact...
Once again, Penn State is looking for a replacement on its revamped offense.
The team announced Wednesday that starting receiver Shawney Kersey had left the Nittany Lions for personal reasons. He remains enrolled in school.
Kersey was one of the most experienced returning wideouts following the transfer of Justin Brown to Oklahoma and offseason departure of Devon Smith.
Two former Penn State administrators facing charges related to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal are seeking to be tried separately.
Defense lawyers asked a Dauphin County judge on Monday to split the criminal cases against former athletic director Tim Curley and retired vice president Gary Schultz.

After one of the toughest losses it has experienced in many years, the Penn State football team turns its attention to Navy with some significant challenges to face.
The Nittany Lions (0-2) host Navy (0-1) 3:30 Saturday and need a win as badly as any team, school or fan base ever needed one.
The good thing is that Navy doesn’t appear to be as good as either Ohio or Virginia...
