The Southern Mississippi Eagles are 9-1 and ranked in the top 25. They have flown under the national media radar which in this day and age with social networking and everyone having a cell phone that can be hard to do. The Eagles have beat some big named schools including Virginia, East Carolina and Central Florida with their only loss coming to Marshall in Week 2. This record would have to raise question should they been in contention for a national championship bid this year or not? Their schedule strength is not as powerful as the almighty LSU, but they dominate teams and have put up 40 or more points four times this year.
