USC Trojans football fans can rejoice as media outlets confirmed this afternoon that Penn State running back Silas Redd signed with the Trojans.
Following the sex abuse scandal at Penn State involving former football coach Jerry Sandusky, and the subsequent penalties handed down by the NCAA, Penn State players were given permission to transfer to other universities without penalty. Redd, who was arguably the Nittany Lions' best player, is the second player to leave the team.
Redd will be able to play at USC immediately and will compliment a backfield that already includes quarterback Matt Barkley, a Heisman Trophy hopeful, and tailback Curtis McNeal. Reportedly, USC Trojans head coach Lane Kiffin traveled cross-country to visit Redd at his home in Connecticut with an entourage of five other USC football coaches.
