*Barry Switzer's 1974 squad was ranked No. 1 in 1974 when Baylor came to Norman and the Sooners were heavy favorites. They won 28-11 and went on to finish 11-0, capturing the Big Eight and national championships.
*Three years later, OU was tabbed as a 30-point favorite over Vanderbilt. OU edged the Commordores, 27-25, but went on to a 10-2 record and another Big Eight title. The Sooners finished the season ranked 7th in the AP poll and 6th in the UPI poll.
*In 1979, the Sooners were 28-point favorites over Iowa, but defeated the Hawkeyes, 21-6. OU wound up 11-1, 3rd nationally in both polls and winner of another...

The fact No. 5 Oklahoma wasn't as impressive as expected in its season opener at Texas-El Paso doesn't greatly concern coach Bob Stoops, who said Monday there was nothing the Sooners did wrong that can't be corrected.
With the Sooners set to face Football Championship Series opponent Florida A&M on Saturday, the talk during Stoops' weekly news conference focused...
NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners got a huge shot in the arm Wednesday evening, as head coach Bob Stoops announced defensive tackle Casey Walker is rejoining the team Monday.
Alabama was the only SEC team to defeat a top 25 opponent in week one despite the perception of the conference being the most dominant in college football. However, the SEC did have one of the most challenging schedules slated in the opening week and they scored the second most points per game among FBS conferences. The ACC, Big 12, Big East, and Pac 12 did not play top 25 opponents...
