It's apparent that there are problems with the South Carolina basketball program.
This team, for whatever reason, has been in a steady decline since Darrin Horn's first season as the Gamecocks basketball coach. Horn's first year at South Carolina went well. There was a share of the SEC East title in the 2008-2009 season. Horn even agreed to a two-year contract extension boosting his pay in December of 2009.
Things were looking up.
Then the downfall came.
This team began to perform at extremely low levels and finished with losing records the past two seasons. The 2011-2012 season started off even worse. A loss to Elon on the road was followed up by a loss to Tennessee State. There's no consistency on this team. Offense is non-existent.
What's the problem here?
Is it that players are talented enough? Is it the coaching staff? Could it be something else?

It looks like the trade between South Carolina and Southern Miss was completed today.
Southern Miss took former Gamecock defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson to be their new coach but South Carolina decided that Grady Brown would be the perfect fit to fill their last coaching vacancy.

Baseball. Gamecocks Up To 11 Games To Be Televised For 2012 Baseball Season
Seven more South Carolina baseball games will be televised as part of the Southeastern Conference package it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. The Gamecocks currently have 11 games scheduled for television for the 2012 season.
W. Basketball. Grant Earns SEC Player of the Week Honors
University of South Carolina senior guard Markeshia Grant was named the SEC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today. The Gamecocks' top scorer poured in a career-high 27 points in South Carolina's first win over Tennessee in Knoxville Thursday night.
