Notre Dame’s refusal to join a conference for college football has gained the Irish a few enemies over the years. It looks like you can count all 14 SEC coaches among them.
South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier had some colorful comments about the Irish during his Q&A session at the SEC Media Days.
Spurrier says SEC football coaches voted 14-0 that Notre Dame should be in a conference for football.

Steve Spurrier said nobody knows why the Notre Dame AD has the same say as conference commisoners

Of course, what the 14 SEC coaches think about Notre Dame’s situation doesn’t really matter for the Irish – they don’t call any of the shots. However, it is hard to argue with Spurrier that the Irish don’t hold a little too much power at the table during BCS discussions, but that’s the way it is these days.
Maybe Notre Dame deserves the criticism, or maybe this is all just jealousy. Either way, another SEC vs. ND national title game wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
