Things move fast in the new age of social media, and social awareness.
24 hours ago we reported that Jay Z and his Roc Nation Sports Agency were pursuing South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.
Thacover2 is reporting that the University of South Carolina is now looking into the relationship between Clowney and Jay Z, and whether or not there has been any contact between the two.
A spokesman for the USC athletics department said the schools compliance office was aware of what’s being circulated and is looking into the reports.
Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier was asked about the reports on ESPN yesterday.
“All of our conversations [with Clowney] are wait until you have played your last game at South Carolina,” Spurrier said. “When the bowl game is over this coming season he’s free to accept any amount of money anybody wants to give him. But until then he has to be a student-athlete like all the other guys or he’s not going to be eligble. He’s done a good job of knowing that.”
NCAA rules prohibit Clowney from agreeing to any deals with any agency until he has played his final game. Clowney is free to have a conversation with Jay Z or anyone else he chooses to speak to.

After word spread Monday that Jadeveon Clowney's tackle versus Michigan last season would have been ruled illegal under the new college football rules in place for 2013, and Clowney would probably have been ejected from the game, one man who knows about hard hits came to the defense of the South Carolina's star defensive player.

Today South Carolina previewed a new chrome helmet via Twitter. It seems like the big trend last year was the matte helmets and now chrome is in.
This is just what SEC opponents needed though, Jadeveon Clowney to have a blinding helmet to make it even harder to see him coming.
At last week's SEC Media Days, Jadeveon Clowney bore the look of a burgeoning All-Pro who should be prepping for NFL training camp not his junior year at South Carolina.
But in some respects, he's just a 20-year-old kid, prone to making college-age mistakes especially ones that might hurt his amateur standing.
According to the Web site Inside The League, Clowney has maintained...
