The Senior Bowl is a chance for players who may be under the radar to make an impression on NFL scouts. That’s exactly what EJ Manuel did. Manuel led the Senior Bowl South team to a 21-10 victory over North and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Senior Bowl.
The Florida State quarterback started his day with a 5-yard touchdown run on a fourth-and-1 to complete South’s first scoring drive. The drive was started after a 95-yard kickoff return from Robert Alford.
In his second drive, Manuel hit Alabama tight end Michael Williams twice for 39 yards. The final of the two passes was a 20-yard strike in the back of the endzone over the outstretched arm of the defender.
Manuel was poised in the pocket and made NFL throws throughout the game. In a 19-yard pass to Williams across the middle of the field, he didn’t lead his tight end into the safety but kept him in the air long enough to avoid taking a big hit.
