TEAMS:
The Stanford and Notre Dame was sure to be a good one and it lived up to the hype coming down to the last play of the game in overtime. With Notre Dame up a touchdown and Stanford on the goal line with a chance to score on 4th and 1, the Cardinal handed the ball off to Stephan Taylor who was hit and initially stopped but appeared to roll off of the stop and score on a second effort. The play would be reviewed and would stand as called on the field which gave Notre Dame the 20 – 13 win over Stanford.

  • Even from all the way over here in Japan two points were clear: 1) The Stanford running back scored a touchdown on the lst play of Overtime, and; 2) Either the Replay Official was intimidated by the situation (oh no, Notre Dame might lose!!!) or he was intimidated by the crowd. In either case he couldn't muster up the internal fortitude to reverse the judgement on the field and rule that the Stanford running back had scored. What a shame.
  • Stanford got screwed big time, that ball was over the goal line and he never touched the ground. He was on top of the pile and was always moving, besides, no whistle was blown before he stuck the ball over the line.

Notre Dame mans up against Stanford

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Stanford Cardinal met this afternoon, and just as we predicted, it was a very physical game that tested the endurance of both teams. Notre Dame's defense smothered Stanford exactly as we expected, allowing only 272 total yards and no offensive touchdowns. But due to in large part to spotty play by starting quarterback Everett Golson – who fumbled...

Lee Corso dresses as leprechaun during 'College Gameday' visit to Notre Dame (Video)

ESPN college football analyst Lee Corso announced his pick of Notre Dame over Stanford during this week's show at South Bend by dressing up as a leprechaun and doing an Irish jig. Naturally, Corso was shamelessly pandering to the home fans, as he has been doing at various schools this year. Regardless, it's fun to watch. H/T Sports Grid. Related: Lee Corso dresses...

Then Taylor twisted his body, moved forward, and...

Notre Dame prepares to face their doppelgängers from Stanford: a preview

The Stanford Cardinal and Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet for the 27th time this Saturday, and the rivalry has never meant more for both schools. Golson, Rees give Notre Dame just enough at QB

Notre Dame's Everett Golson sustained a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit in the fourth quarter against Stanford but Irish coach Brian Kelly says the starting quarterback should be ready to play against Brigham Young on Saturday. Kelly says Golson still had some concussion symptoms on Sunday, and will undergo further tests on Monday. Kelly says he expects Golson to be cleared...

Can Golson lead Notre Dame past Stanford?

Everett Golson was firing on all cylinders last week in Notre Dame’s 41-3 trashing of Miami. Golson was collected, accurate and took what Miami gave him and burned them. It was also against Miami, one of the worst defenses in college football. The Hurricanes have allowed thirty plus points on average to their opposition.Putting the filters on we began to wonder how much Notre Dame’s...
