Clearly, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is a highly-valued commodity these days. "Suck for Luck" campaigns have sprouted up all over cyberspace, as NFL fans express hope that their favorite teams tank the 2011 campaign, in an effort to land the No. 1 pick in next spring's draft. Luck, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound physical specimen, is expected to be that top pick. And the Stanford signal-caller, for the record, thinks all the "Suck for Luck" message-board threads are silly. He said as much this week. "I am aware of it," Luck told the New York Times. "A couple of guys told me about it. I think it's stupid, simply put." Those words must hurt a few fans who desperately covet the 2010 Heisman Trophy runner-up. After all, time and effort was clearly put into the numerous online, "Suck for Luck" campaigns. Multiple Minnesota Viking Internet outlets praise the virtues of the 22-year-old Luck, for example. The Minnesota Vikings Nation web site has a "Suck for Luck" message-board thread, and a separate Vikings-related "Suck for Luck" page can be found on Facebook. Apparently, countless NFL fans would love to be online "friends" with the Stanford star. There's a "Denver Broncos Suck for Luck" page on Facebook. There's also a "Chiefs Suck for Andrew Luck" page, and a similar page created by devotees of the Seattle Seahawks. One Facebook page that pays homage to Luck displays a Photoshopped image of Luck donning an Indianapolis Colts jersey. Clearly, Luck -- a highly cerebral quarterback who reportedly thrives in engineering classes in college -- is viewed as a beacon of hope for multiple depressed NFL fan-bases. Luck's stats leave mouths agape. Last year, his touchdown-to-interception ratio was 32-to-8. This season his passing efficiency rating is a sterling 182.3. The Stanford star even reeled in a one-handed reception recently. So, if NFL teams can get their hands on Luck, there's apparent promise for the future. Thus, the "Suck for Luck" campaigns continue to garner mouse-clicks.
