Different day, same results. That could be the new mantra for the Florida State Seminoles. Everything that they hope will go right has so far this season and the game against the Syracuse Orange looked much mike the game against Wake Forest a week before. In the end, a 59-3 win at home in front of members of the 1993 FSU National Title team had the fans wondering if this team could match their predecessors from 20 years ago.As a student at FSU when the 1993 team captured the school’s first national title, I can honestly say this version might be a little better.Jameis Winston still continues to wow opponents and Heisman voters by throwing for 277 yards on 19 of 21 passing and three scores (on the ground) in the first half. He even threw a hard block down the field on a touchdown run in the first quarter. This wasn’t an easy week for Winston or the Seminoles. Allegation of Winston, who is having as fine a rookie seasons as any freshman color football history, being involved in a case of sexual assault against a female FSU student broke early this week, raising eyebrows and questioning Winston’s involvement in the situation - although he has not been questioned or arrested or charged. All Winston did was go out in front of the home crowd and prove his play on the field, and left the off field interference on the sidelines. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly of this game. The GoodWinston decided this game was over in the first few minutes. The Seminoles jumped out to a 14-0 lead after 4:19 in the first quarter.  There isn’t a lot of new things you can say about FSU other than the offense knows one speed, the offense continues to move forward and it did not take a lot to prove their point in Saturday. The 28-0 first quarter lead was just like watching a machine gun going off continuously. Before everyone could catch their breath, it was over. The BadThe running game showed how amazing it was early. The Noles as a team had 225 yards on the ground, averaging over 11 yards a carry. Devonta Freeman, Karlos Williams and James Wilder, Jr. led the way and tore up the middle of the Orange defensive line. The running game also accounted for four touchdowns on the game.Syracuse had only 243 yards in total offense. The running game almost matched the opposition itself.FSU finished with 523 of total offense. The UglyIdaho and Florida stand in the way of an undefeated season. The 2013 team will have one thing over the 1993 title team. The Seminoles lost to Notre Dame in the year and begged and clawed it way back to the Orange Bowl for a date with Nebraska. The names like Ward, Dunn, Friar and Bush have been replaced by Winston, Freeman, Greene and Joyner. Nothing has really changed however - the Noles know how to beat their competition. And like the teams that steamrolled through the ACC back in the early 1990s, these Seminoles are doing the same thing.
