Peter Taglianetti knows a thing or two about Pittsburgh sports.
He won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Pens in ’91 and ’92 at the back end of his career; he spent some time in the press bos calling Pens games; he coached some of Western Pennsylvania’s biggest hockey names at Washington & Jefferson (what do you mean you’ve never heard of Chad Talotta or Mario Panucci?). Oh, and his son happens happened to play for Todd Graham at Pitt.
Andrew Taglianetti is a redshirt junior safety and he had a pretty solid year for the Panthers this year. He posted a career high 43 tackles (34 of them solo), and picked up one sack and a pick. Plus, he’s been a monster on special teams since joining the Panthers.
And for all his hard work, he received a text saying that his coach had quit – like we said before: classy.
Well, nobody treats Tags’ son like that. NOBODY!
Here’s what Tags Sr. had to say about Graham’s exit strategy:
“Todd Graham has no balls. A guy like this walks into a program, shovels a bunch ******** and blames everybody for how the season went.“ He’s not wrong. It’s no wonder Graham waited until he was at 30,000 feet, on his way to Tempe before he texted the big news. If he’d waited around in the Burgh and delivered the news in person, there’s a good chance Tags would’ve tagged Graham the same way he did Jeff Beukeboom. That was the smartest move Graham made since signing his contract.Todd Graham Sucks
Ex-Pitt coach tells players he's leaving via text message
It's one thing to take another job if you're in the college football coaching profession, but it's quite another to tell your team the news via text.
