On Sunday, a University of Tennessee-Chattanooga football player was tazed and arrested by police after acting erratically and yelling at officers. Sophomore linebacker Mahasibi Wakeel is being charged with assault and disorderly conduct for his actions involving fellow teammate Keyon Reed at a local apartment complex.Police said Reed's girlfriend dialed 911 after becoming concerned of Reed's strange behavior. According to her, Reed would "stare into space and not respond when spoken to". Eventually, Reed locked himself in his room. The Chattanoogan has the story once police arrived:Two officers said they tried to make contact with Reed, who is a tackle for the Mocs. Police said they directed others on the scene to wait outside. However, they said others, including Wakeel, refused to leave and aggravated the situation. Police said Reed finally came out of the room and appeared agitated. It was felt he was "under the influence of an unknown controlled substance or possibly was having a medical problem."Officers said Reed became very loud shouting at police officers and others on the scene and trying to leave. Police followed him onto a porch area. Police said he became very violent and began to shout at police.Police said Wakeel was aggravating the situation by cursing at Reed and yelling at police not to arrest his friend. Officers said Reed began backing one of the officers down a hallway. Another officer came up behind him. The first officer yelled for him to taze Reed. The report says as soon as the officer began to use the tazer Wakeel shouted to police and told them not to taze his friend. Wakeel then tackled the officer and shoved him, it was stated.Wakeel then proceeded to restrain Reed by wrestling him back toward his room.Reed was eventually handcuffed shortly thereafter and escorted away by four officers.Wakeel was taken into custody without resistance after police returned to the apartment unit.
