Terrell McClain DT South Florida
Ht: 6’2″
Wt: 297
Strengths:
Adequate size and strength. A very good athlete for an interior lineman. Consistently gets into the backfield. A hard hitter. Has a reputation as a hard worker, coaches have a lot of good things to say about him.
Weaknesses:
Inconsistent. Doesn’t appear to always play up to his potential. Gets swallowed up by more physical offensive linemen at times. May be better suited as a 3-4 end than inside in a 4-3 scheme.
Comments:
McClain has some upside as a penetrating tackle (think poor man’s Gerald McCoy) but he may struggle to earn a starting role if he doesn’t add some strength and improve his ability to hold up at the point of attack in the run game. As of right now he’s probably best suited to play in a 3-4 scheme, but he could certainly develop into a quality interior lineman in the 4-3 system with some work.
