Zach Terrell, who had four touchdowns and 275 passing yards, completed a 54-yard scoring strike to Corey Davis with five minutes remaining in the game to give Western Michigan a 31-30 victory over the University of Massachusetts Saturday. Coach P.J. Fleck garnered his first win at Western Michigan (1-8, 1-4 Mid-American Conference) as the Broncos had to hold on for their first victory of the season. The Minutemen (1-7, 1-3) mounted a 68-yard scoring drive in the final minutes that ended with Lorenzo Woodley rushing in for the score from the 2 with 22 seconds remaining. UMass opted to go for two, but A.J. Doyle's pass attempt fell incomplete. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by the Broncos. The Minutemen started fast as Khary Bailey-Smith returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a score. They led throughout the first half, going into the break 21-17.
