There can be no question as to whether or not the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are back or not. The Irish dominated the number 8 Sooners on Saturday night on their way to 8 – 0. The 30 – 13 score doesn’t even begin to explain how impressive the Irish looked. Notre Dame had 3 rushing touchdowns from 3 different rushers. Golson, Wood, and Riddick all rushed for a touchdown. Golson did have 177 passing yards to go along with his 64 rushing and didn’t have one turnover. The main highlight from this game other than the win was the play of Manti Te’o. The Notre Dame linebacker has been spectacular all season. Te’o has 80 tackles (46 asst, 34 solo) this season and is a Heisman candidate. His interception may have sealed his trip to New York as a Heisman finalist. The Irish are now ranked 3rd in the BCS standings and are poised to finish out the season with a very good shot at a BCS title trip. If Notre Dame goes undefeated, it will be very hard for them to be left out of the title game.

College football rankings: Tailgater top 25, week 9

Tailgater Top 25 Rankings, Week 9 I was pretty rough on Notre Dame when the Irish were helped to their win over Stanford.  And for the record, Notre Dame deserved it.  Stanford still isn’t very good, that Stephon Taylor still scored that touchdown. But college football changes week to week more than any other sport, and week 9 is no exception.  After struggling against the Cardinal...

Fan gets Notre Dame golden dome head tattoo

One man loves the Notre Dame Fighting Irish so much that he has opted to get the universities’ Golden Dome building tattooed on his head. The tattoo took nine hours to complete but Tracey Moore believes it was worth it to support his favorite team. “It was painful,” Moore said. “I can’t say it didn’t hurt, because it did.” Moore told ABC57 that he always keeps his head...

Notre Dame football outmuscles Oklahoma 30-13

Notre Dame football is officially back, boys and girls. There’s no getting around it now. On the road. Against an offense averaging 44 points per game. A redshirt freshman quarterback against a defense allowing 15 points per game. All of this added up to what most thought would be the unraveling a Fighting Irish football team that had outplayed that talent it actually had. Well...

BCS computers continue to favor Notre Dame and Kansas State, humans prefer Oregon

The latest BCS rankings are out. The national title picture got a bit clearer with Florida's loss to Georgia, thus greatly decreasing their odds of playing for the national title. Thanks to another blow out victory over an excellent opponent, Kansas State has moved into the national championship game. Despite being tied at number one in the computer average with the Wildcats...

Notre Dame defeats Oklahoma, stakes claim for spot in national title

While many commentators acted like the Oklahoma Sooners would easily defeat Notre Dame on Saturday night in Norman, others were not as convinced. Notre Dame vindicated those who argued against the media narrative that Notre Dame was a pretender about to be exposed by the Sooners. If anyone got exposed as a pretender, it was the Sooners and their finesse offense and defense. While...

The Week That Was College Football: Week 9

With national picture clearing up little, by little we start to hit that annual tradition known as pure and unadulterated panic. You see schools who are not in the top two start bricking as they breakdown the future opponents of … Continue reading →

Offense growing with Golson for No. 4 Notre Dame

(Eds: Adds details, comments. With AP Photos.) By JEFF LATZKE AP College Football Writer Brian Kelly folded his arms across his chest and shook his head in disgust at a promising Notre Dame drive that stalled out in the red zone. His young quarterback, Everett Golson, had just planted a third-down throw in the grass a few feet too far away for second-team All-American Tyler Eifert...

Notre Dame Smashes Oklahoma 30-13: Manti Te'o Is One Bad Dude

Notre Dame silenced its critics.  They strutted into Norman, Oklahoma like Clint Eastwood walking into the cemetery looking for gold coins.  And the Fighting Irish found their treasure.  Not in the form of gold coins.  But in the form of a victory over a top ten team.  Winning in a hostile environment.  Winning under the heat of College Gameday and Saturday night lights....
