Lost Letterman reports that Ron Morris — a columnist from The State in Columbia, SC, has been banned from covering the Gamecocks. Like he can't write about them...at all: Back in 2011, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier grew so upset with Ron Morris — a columnist from The State — that he refused to answer anyone’s questions at a press conference as long as Morris was in the room. The feud has only escalated in the two years since then. Spurrier blasted Morris on his coach’s radio show last fall. Now, Morris is apparently prohibited by his employer from writing about the Gamecocks football team. At all. “The publisher of the paper has removed Ron from any coverage of the football program, which down there is akin to the Washington Post not letting Dan Balz write about government,” a former colleague of Morris’ told Jim Romenesko on Wednesday. “Effectively, he’s being forced out at the behest of the football coach, with the publisher not standing up for him.” The State is published by The McClatchy Company. The McClatchy Company is "the third-largest newspaper company in the United States and a leading digital publisher dedicated to the values of quality journalism, free expression and community service." That's some fine free expressionism, Patrick. **Follow us on Twitter, View via Our Mobile Site, or Return to BobsBlitz.comFollow us on Twitter. Subscribe or Return to Bob's Blitz.
