Pro Skills Basketball:
Passed through article about how Missouri Tigers call it’s the fastest 40 minutes in basketball. That's nearly as of "40 minutes of hell. "
"When I first got here," said Missouri coach Mike Anderson, "it was 20 minutes of hell and 20 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"
Now, coach Anderson, has his te
am on the edge of something big.
This team finally is beginning to understand wha
t "40 minutes of hell", Richardson's famous mantra at Arkansas, is all about. It’s comes after four years of hell for the program.
It came with a boatload of brutal work:
-the figure eights with the medicine ball,
-the figure eights with the water ball,
-the timing and tedious torture of the jump rope.
-five laps around the gym, then five in the opposite direction.
-the dreaded windsprints.
When Anderson arrived three years ago, the program was at the bottom.
Anderson spent his first two seasons weeding out malcontents.Righ now, the message was simple: don't change what you're doing because you're playing in a different building.
So Missouri did what Missouri does:
-dictate tempo,
-force teams into uncomfortable matchups,
-take advantage of mistakes.
This is how 40 minutes works. It's:
-forcing turnovers
-getting defensive deflections;
-it's a 94-feet game.
