There are different kinds of ownership. Fee simple, tenants in common, leasehold, etc. Defining the specific type that Will Brown holds over Mike Lonergan is hard to describe. We remember Jamar Wilson, Brian Lillis and even Brent Wilson and their magical ability to beat Vermont teams that appeared to have more talent and depth.

Again this year, UA beats UVM two outta three without any reasonable explanation. Ok. here's mine. Lonergan is a truly great recruiter. His team is talented, deep and improving. They beat some good teams this year and lost to some big time programs in OT........not unlike today, strangely enough.

His teams are something like 1-10 in overtime in his tenure in Burlap. Maybe a game better, but that number is close. How do we judge coaches? (What, you want a fucking list, here? Fuggedaboutit.) Graduation rates, strength of schedule, quality kids, and big wins are a few. How about "close games?" I'd guess that a bad foul or a lucky trey wins a large percentage of close games, including those that go into OT. How does a D1 level coach LOSE 90% of overtime games? Co-inkindink? Methinks not. It takes (or lacks) a special talent.

Whatever ownership, time share or lease Will Brown has on Lonergan is deeply ingrained. Clearly, it was UVM's bad luck that they faced UA on their home floor in a first round tourney game. C'mon, that does not matter in the least. (or, don't mean shit, in the parlance of the woodchuck dialect.) Albany beat the Catamounts straight up. Yet, again.

UA is a class school and program. Brown reminds me of the old Bum Phillips line (he was the coach of the old Houston Oilers before you were born) who said of the great Don Shula, "He can take his'n and beat your'n, then take your'n and beat his'n". This may only pertain to UVM, but it rings as true nonetheless. How many points of the law is "ownership"?

Congrats, Purple Dogs. Good luck.

Hey Mike, think about maybe getting a voodoo doll from one of the "alternative students" you have in the tundra of the People's Republic of Ben & Jerry's. Some good Karma couldn't hurt. You need some help, buddy.
