The reason why the 49ers really hired Mike Martz and how it may backfire

There is more to the story of Mike Martz and his hiring to the San Francisco 49ers. The hiring may be because of Mike Nolan using him for job security. If Martz can develop Alex Smith into a great quarterback, then Nolan wouldn't have to worry about being a bust head coach. However, if Martz does succeed, maybe when Mike Nolan's contract is over, Martz may take over as head coach.
