Like all West Virginians, I have been bred to hate the fans, alums, faculty, students, coaches, and most importantly, the football team of the University of Pittsburgh. We don’t hate you for 13-9, don’t worry we know our coach threw that game, and it was almost worth losing to get to play Dave Wannstedt a few more times. No Pittsburgh, we hate you for your misplaced sense of superiority, for your constantly hyped but always choking teams. We hate you because you attempt to look down on us, even though most of your co-eds look like Dejuan Blair in drag. Oh you’re going to go to the Big 10? Please you’d be an east coast version of Indiana. We know you’ll never leave. And that’s the biggest reason why we hate you. We have to, so our children will, and our grand children will. They have to know that this isn’t just another conference game that occasionally means something in the rankings (you know, when you’re good), but rather a tradition- like Thanksgiving, passed down from generation to generation. The visceral reaction of joy when watching Pitt lose at anything is fantastic. We hate you because in West Virginia, it’s better to hate Pitt and deal with the sadness of a Mountaineer loss, than love Pitt and deal with your family hating you. Eat ****, Pitt- it’s what you guys do best.
