Tim Tebow's A Virgin ... And Clay Travis Is A *******

The first big buzz to come out of the SEC Media Days was the fact that someone had the audacity to leave Florida's Heisman-winning quarterback and real-life version of Gavin "Gray Ghost" Gray off the all-conference first-team. Turns out, it was Steve Spurrier, and it was an admitted mistake.

Turns out, Spurrier had South Carolina's director of football operations fill out his ballot and the staffer put Ole Miss' Jevan Snead over Tim Tebow on the first team.

“I called him. I said, Certainly we had Tim Tebow. He said, Well, actually,
coach, we had Jevan Snead. He said something about we already had 10 Gators,
maybe get another guy. I said, That's bad. But it's my fault. I take full
responsibility. I messed that up. I apologize(d) to Tim Tebow. We screwed it up
pretty badly. I'm embarrassed about it. I feel bad about it. That's the way it
happened.”

While that fire was put out, another was set off by Clay Travis of Fanhouse, who asked Tebow "are you saving yourself for marriage?" a question the Gator laughed at before answering "Yes, I am."
First off, good for Tebow for proving that he walks the walk. This isn't a guy who is just out there preaching spirituality, he's living it. He isn't just using his popularity to get girls. And so the legend grows.
Secondly, where does Travis get off asking him the question in the first place? OK, I'll by that it's the ultimate show of whether Tim Tebow Public Man of God is really Tim Tebow Private Man of God, but when you consider who Travis is, it seems more like a stunt than journalism. Travis, formerly of CBS Sports and Deadspin, has his own site where he comes off like a pompous ass as he tries to get readers to flash a made-up hand gesture and lists phrases that he has coined. This wasn't a guy trying to dig for information, this was a guy trying to use the ESPN cameras and hundreds of media members in attendance to increase the public standing of Clay Travis -- and sales of his upcoming book.
Of course, it's all working since I'm writing about Travis. But ultimately, all he's done is make Tebow look even more saintly than before and he's made himself look like an inappropriate jerk.
