Tulsa CB Flanders ineligible for season

John Flanders, the cornerback who sealed Tulsa's win at Notre Dame last season with a last-minute interception in the end zone, has been declared academically ineligible this season. The Golden Hurricane announced Friday that Flanders is seeking a waiver from the NCAA and hopes to redshirt this season, then return next year for his final season of eligibility. Flanders has played in all 39 of Tulsa's games over the past three seasons and started 22 times. The Golden Hurricane open their season Saturday night at No. 1 Oklahoma.
