Danny Sheridan, the USA Today contributor and conspiracy frequent-flier, alleged in a speech before the Tuscaloosa Quarterback Club earlier this week that to Auburn assistants had been pulled from the recruiting trail because of an NCAA investigation into Auburn's practices.
Since then Gene Chizik, Curtis Looper (Auburn's recruiting coordinator) and Trooper Taylor have all declined comment when asked about the allegation. The rumor that Auburn had pulled to coaches back to campus had been making the rounds for a couple of weeks prior to Sheridan's speech. One would think that if the allegation is untrue that Chizik were one of his assistants would have simply shot it down with a flat denial.
Luper, the Tigers' recruiting coordinator, declined comment Wednesday, said the Tigers staff is following its recruiting plan.
"We've got our commitments, and we have a strategy to keep those guys," Luper said. "We're not going to elaborate on any of it, and we're definitely not going to answer any accusations."
Luper and Taylor have attended Auburn High School games over the last several weeks to see their sons play for the school, which is the same team as Tigers' commitment Reuben Foster.
"Obviously, we can't comment on any accusations, but I can tell you this," Taylor said. "We have a plan in place for recruiting. We stick to that plan, and what this coaching staff is focused on, outside of recruiting, is winning a football game."

Time for today's "there's a possibility but no chance" coaching rumor of the day. The Alabama blog I Bleed Crimson Red claims that first-year Arizona head football coach Rich Rodriguez is the top candidate to replace Auburn HC Gene Chizik.
The blog gives several reasons why RichRod coaching Auburn would make sense.
For the last three years, Auburn has...
If you're a regular visitor the The Sports Rockers, and we hope that you are, you might have noticed our recent fascination with Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. The Chiz is undoubtedly on the hot seat at Auburn. I said on twitter last week that he might not make it to this week if he loses to Vanderbilt. Well, they lost to Vanderbilt. And Chizik is still coaching.
Southern Fried Sports reports that the same people who supplied SFS with Malzahn to Arkansas State tip last January are predicting that Rich Rodriguez will be the top candidate to replace Gene Chizik if when he is terminated.
The reasoning is sound.
For the last three years, Auburn has recruited players on both sides of the ball that are suited to playing on a team dedicated...
The combined record of the New Mexico State Aggies and the Auburn Tigers is 2-14. Let that sink in. The only difference, I guess, is that Auburn has losses to LSU, Texas A&M, and Clemson, while the Aggies have losses to Idaho and UT-San Antonio on their resume. You look at Auburn as an Auburn fan and you just think we're bad, but when you put them up against New Mexico State...
I'm pushing a B average, but it's going to take a few weeks of perfection to get up there for good. Mom Blogle never accepted a C, and I didn't make one until 11th grade Chemistry. Oh well, she's just gonna have to get over it in this case. I bet Brando is doing worse than 77%.

Jonathan Wallace will get his first career start for the Tigers and is looking to spark the Auburn offense.
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik talks about his team's 42-7 Homecoming win over New Mexico State as the Tigers picked up their second win of the season heading into the Georgia game.
Tweet Not much has gone right for Gene Chizik and the Auburn Tigers this season. Entering today they were 1-7 overall and winless (0-6) in SEC play. But this is homecoming weekend at Auburn and New Mexico State (1-7, 0-4 in WAC) is in town. The Tigers are in good shape to secure win [...]
