What was a rumor on social media last night was confirmed to multiple outlets this morning, as two ex-Auburn football players - Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips were shot dead.  Also amongst the injured is current Tigers offensive lineman Erick Mack, who is still currently in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound.  As many as 7 people are thought to be shot in the late night incident.

It appears there was an off-campus part going on with former and current Auburn players and friends when something went horribly wrong and a fight broke out that turned into shooting.  According to the report above the shooter(s) have no affiliation with the Auburn football program.

All three players were part of the Tigers 2010 recruiting class and Christian had a series of back injuries that forced him to leave the program and Phillips had given up the game just this past spring.  Mack had a shot at being in the rotation for the offensive line this fall before this incident.

Much more will be known about the situation as the Auburn Police Department will hold a 1pm Central press conference which can be seen live here.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families at this time and we wish those recovering a speedy and full recovery from this horrible tragedy.
