Huskies Love ‘em Hate ‘em Style So much to like about this game. Just a great all-around performance by the Washington Huskies. This team is starting to look real good. Love ‘Em The O Bishop Sankey passed 1,000 yards on the season. Kasen Williams had seven catches, 73 yards, and a touchdown. Austin Seferian-Jenkins broke the all-time UW receptions record for tight ends. And Teeth Price finally made a reappearance,  as Keith Price was smiling plenty after his best game of the season. Quite simply, everything clicked on offense. Utah never had a chance. The D Justin Wilcox has turned this unit into a lethal bunch and a genuine strength of the team. The defense produced the usual assortment of sacks, turnovers, and three-and-outs as the other reason Utah never had a chance. Stat of the day? The D held Utah to 55 passing yards. The Huskies almost had three players with that many receiving yards on their own. Helmeted Swag For those of you who noticed (which I would hope is all of my readers with regular eyesight) UW was rocking the usual purple and gold helmets with a twist—a red, white, and blue “W” on the side. Cool helmets / Bigtime performance gave Price reason to smile vs. Utah (Photo: Bettina Hansen/SeattleTimes) Oregon’s status as coolest-helmeted-team in the Pac-12 may be in jeopardy. Bonus Love ‘Em: A Pac-12 Team in the National Championship Alabama’s loss Saturday to Texas A&M has dropped them to fourth in the latest AP polls. The ugly ducklings down  in Eugene are currently sitting in first. While I hate Oregon as much as the next decent human being, I hope for the sake of the Pac-12, and college football as a whole, that someone other than an SEC team wins the next national championship—it’s Oregons to lose. Some reflected glory on the Pac-12 from a Duck national championship wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Hate ‘Em Penalties Sark clearly isn’t reading my articles, because if he was, he would’ve noticed that I complain about penalties every single week. We can get away with it against mediocre teams, but like I’ve said before, it’s going to cost us a game someday if we don’t stop making boneheaded plays. Fumbles I frowned slightly when I heard the announcer say at one point that Price has had five fumbles in the past five games. While he did run it in for a touchdown in the second quarter, he fumbled the ball after he scored. It didn’t count, but was still a worrying reminder Price is having trouble absorbing hits this year. Utes What is a “Ute?” What kind of weird mascot is that? After extensive Googling and Wikipedia research, I have found the Utes are a Native American tribe that used to live in Utah. Okay, that’s fair, but still, pretty lame name. It’s up there with the Illinois Illini as most un-creative team names. Minor quarrels aside, this was one of the best games of the season for the Huskies.
