Southern California senior quarterback Matt Barkley is questionable for next week’s showdown.
The Trojans face the undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who are expected to be No. 1 in this week’s AP and BCS rankings. The speculation from Los Angeles is that Barkley has a separated shoulder.
It is not clear which shoulder is injured after being removed from the UCLA-USC game in the fourth quarter. Head coach Lane Kiffin is also being tight lipped about his injury.
There are going to be more tests on Barkley tomorrow as his status fore the remainder of the season is up in the air.

SHOULDER THE BURDEN
Matt Barkley was supposed to contend for the Heisman and the national title as a senior, but instead, his year might be over following an injury during USC's loss to UCLA.
Yesterday UCLA won the battle of Los Angeles as they handed it to Matt Barkley and former preseason number one USC (let that marinade for a second). Jonathan Franklin sealed the deal with this sweet TD run followed by a throat slash. Gus Johnson caps it all off with a call of “U-C-L-A” as Franklin gives the gesture.
The throat slash is one of my favorite “post play” gestures...

BCS National Championship: Notre Dame vs. AlabamaNotre Dame is just one game away from running the table, including wins over #13 Oklahoma, #19 Michigan, Michigan State, and possibly USC. So much for a Oregon-USC rematch in the Pac-12 title game. UCLA not only knocked Matt Barkley out of the game, the Bruins knocked the Trojans out...
Yogi Roth of the Pac-12 Network joins Fox Sports Tonight and talks about USC's next quarterback taking over for Matt Barkley.
Odds are the mood was slightly less jovial than this after the game ended. UCLA took care of business against the Trojans with a convincing 38-28 victory, their first win against USC since 2006. More newsworthy is the fact that the Girls Of The Pac-12 post has been led by beer bonging USC chicks for two consecutive weeks!
We have to admit we like what we’re seeing out of USC chicks...
After another crazy weekend featuring countless upsets and last second victories throughout the college football ever changing landscape, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Alabama Crimson Tide are now projected to meet for the BCS Championship.
