The oustanding college football writer Bruce Feldman is a great example of what can happen to an ESPN employee when they get on the wrong side of the mothership.

After working with Mike Leach on his book Swing Your Sword: Leading the Charge in Football and Life, Feldman was summarily punished by ESPN for something which they authorized.

In a bizarre situation– one covered at length in the video conversation with Dan Patrick above– Feldman was suspended from writing for ESPN, eventually quitting and recently accepting a position to write on college football for CBSSports.com.

Feldman, well-liked among his peers, was the subject of a #FreeBruce trend which overtook Twitter immediately after the news of his suspension by ESPN took to the Internet.

Bruce Feldman will continue to succeed. He’s one of the good guys, who keeps his head down, does his work, and does it well.

Don’t even get me started on the mothership. Their actions speak for themselves.

Hat tip to Sports Grid for the great quality of video.
