The Gators emerged victorious from their season opener, but the 27-14 victory was far from pretty. Although Jeff Driskel took most of the snaps, the quarterback mystery remains. Florida continued to struggle on an area of emphasis: penalties; racking up 14 penalties for 106 yards. The run-game seemed to be the saving grace of the offense & running back Mike Gillislee was the biggest contributor.

Driskel, Gillislee lead Gators to opening win

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- You knew Saturday at The Swamp was going to be interesting as soon as sophomore quarterbacks Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett both ran onto the field for Florida's first offensive play of the game. Brissett lined up at quarterback and Driskel at receiver. That's one way to solve a quarterback battle. Move one guy to a new position. "It was a little...

Gillislee carries Gators past Bowling Green

The performance was far from perfect for the Gators, who struggled part of the game on offense and failed to generate much pressure on defense. Still, it was enough for Florida to win its 23rd consecutive opener. The streak is the second longest in the nation behind Nebraska (27). The Gators can thank Mike Gillislee, Frankie Hammond and two missed field goals for the latest one.
