Virginia Tech held their annual Maroon vs. White spring game over the weekend and it appears the offense may need some work. Does the 7-3 final indicate that Logan Thomas will be missed more than expected? Tech football may have reached a low on September 11th, 2010 when they dropped to 0-2. The shootout loss to Boise State at Fed Ex Field wasn’t the problem, it was the loss five days later to James Madison at Lane Stadium. The Hokies bounced back to go 11-2, then laid an egg against Stanford in the Orange Bowl in what turned out to be Jim Harbaugh’s last game with the Cardinal. 2011 saw another 11-3 season, with a narrow loss to Michigan in the Sugar Bowl. Back to back BCS appearances, something any program would be proud of. 2012 saw a winning record (7-6) salvaged by an overtime win over Rutgers, a season which saw Tech lose five of six near the end of the season. 2013 seemed promising with a strong showing against top ranked Alabama in the Kickoff Classic, which would be their only loss in the first seven weeks. Things fell apart a bit as they lost three of four, including an overtime loss at home to Maryland. A blowout loss left Hokie faithful looking for more. 2014 brings a schedule that should allow the Hokies to ease in their new quarterback, until they hit the road in October at North Carolina and Pittsburgh. The game that will be circled on coach Frank Beamer’s calendar is the Saturday night primetime ESPN game at Ohio State on September 6th. Virginia Tech QB question will linger

Saturday’s spring scrimmage at Virginia Tech did nothing to solve any questions about the starting quarterback vacancy left by Logan Thomas.
