Ryan Williams (34) did not play in the April 17 scrimmage. Blacksburg, VA – The offense looked pretty good, as did the punt and kick-block teams. The defense struggled, the punting was hit or miss, and the field goal kicking was downright abysmal. All in all, just another day of spring practice for Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer and his Hokies. Senior quarterback Tyrod Taylor looked relaxed and poised, just how you’d expect a fourth-year veteran to look under center. Taylor made the kind of plays Tech fans have become accustom to seeing, including a couple of nice completions to Jarrett Boykin. But the most electrifying play of the scrimmage resembled that of Taylor’s bomb to Danny Coale against Nebraska that led to the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds. Taylor dropped back with plenty of time thanks to good protection from the offensive line. Danny Coale, a rising junior, ran a seam straight down the sideline with two defensive backs all over him....
