This segment will "air" every Friday throughout the season. I will breakdown the upcoming game and give a prediction as it relates to the betting line. Sure, this is aimed at our degenerate gambler fans but I think it will be informative for the non-betting folks as well. Feel free to post a comment regarding your thoughts. This segment is meant to be unbiased as the only color that matters here is green - as in US currency.

2011 Season Record; Overall Record since 2010 (ATS):

15-18 ; 32-26

Last Week Recap:

Didn't get the 2-1 that I was looking for.  Now I walk into Conference Championship Game Week needing to go 3-0 to get the season to .500.  Exhale.

Offense:

The Badger Offense ended the season ranked 4th in the country in scoring (44.8/game), 10th nationally in rushing (246.7 yards/game) and a meager 63rd in passing (230.4 yards/game).  Anyone who is interested in reading this knows about the gaudy numbers that Montee Ball has put up week in and week out.  Russell Wilson ended the scheduled season with 2700 yards which is great for a Wisconsin signal caller but a bit down by Wilson's standards.  Toon and Abbrederis both grabbed 50-sih balls for 750-ish yards.  MSU has, conversely, had trouble running the ball (rand 78th, 139 yards/game).  The Spartans are averaging a nationally ranked 43rd in points per game at 30.2.  Both Bell and Baker had similar rushing numbers at 794 and 624 respectively.  Cousins, like Wilson, has thrown for 2700 yards with 1125 of them going to Cunningham.

Defense:

Both Defenses mirror each other.  Both are giving up a stingy 15 points per game.  The Badgers strengths lie in their linebacking core of Taylor and Boreland.  MSU relies on their defensive line who is anchored by Worthy and Gholston.

Intangibles:

This game, unlike their last two meetings, will not be in East Lansing, however, it will not be in Madison either.  This game is being held on a neutral field in Indianapolis which will eliminate the weather but brings on some uncertainty as to how each team will react....  In their first match-up, the MSU defense was without Gholston, who sat out due to suspension....  MSU sucks....  The two games that UW lost this season both had multiple special teams blunders.  UW will have a hard time recovering for another in this game.

Walking the Line:

UW -9.5 and Over/Under 55

These teams play each other well and have good match-ups up and down the roster.  Should special teams NOT be a factor, this game is a coin flip.  Wisconsin does have a slight edge on the offensive side of the ball due to their running game and the playmaking ability at the QB position.  Special teams for UW are an issue and have been shaky since day 1.

I like the Michigan State +9.5.  Special teams are a huge concern for the Badgers and MSU has exploited it the past two years.  This will be a slug fest.  Wisconsin is the better team.  MSU will be confident.  This game is going to come down to the last play of the game with a Badger win and a WtL cover.

D DOGG Daily Double:

Below are 2 picks that I really like this week:

Georgia +14: Old faithful #1 this year for me.  They have their work cut out for them but they may be able to catch an LSU team off guard.  There has been plenty of people speculating that LSU doesn't have to win this game and they will still be in the National Championship Game.  Did these "talking heads" get their word into the LSU locker room?  We will see.

Oklahoma State -3.5 : Old faithful #2.  The Cowboys have not handled their interstate rival well in the past but they have the team this year to do something about it.  After being pushed around year after year, I expect the Cowboys to be motivated to not take their feet of the gas.  Okla St also has some outside chances at a BCS Championship invite so making a statement will be on the priority list.
