So lets recap real quick, LSU, FSU and Georgia all have two things in common, the first being that they were all upset ( while I may still argue a 5 losing to a 6 isn’t really an upset but it is what it is) and secondly I called them all.  Could have made myself a nice little chunk of change parlaying the three money lines, but that is neither here nor there.  I got a little off track but big shake ups in My Top 10.  So let’s get this started.  Top 10 College Football Rankings:1. Alabama – ‘Bama rolled again this week……….oh wait they didn’t play, well with the way this past weekend went a bye may have been a good thing.  They got to sit home, rest up and prepare for SEC conference play.  I’m sure coach Saban has his team staying focused and they will show Mizzu what SEC defense looks like.  It’s a little different than the stellar defense of the Big 12, ha.  As crazy as it would be to see another top team upset, there is not a chance Coach Saban coming off a bye, will allow his tea

The Geno Smith sweepstakes: week 5 update

So, about this whole Geno Smith thing…does anybody have any questions? Anybody? No, didn’t think so.  Not after what Geno did to Texas on Saturday. Make no mistake, the Longhorns defense is no joke. Granted, I wouldn’t put them up there with the Alabama’s or the LSU’s of the world, but with four players currently projected as first or second round picks, they certainly...

College football: Tailgater best and worst of week 6

Whereas week 5′s keyword was survive, week 6′s theme was thrive.  South Carolina, Ohio State, and Florida announced loud and clear that they’re going to be threats to win their respective divisions, though the Buckeyes can’t officially win anything.  West Virginia finished its Big 12 entrance with a road win over Texas that wasn’t quite as close as the 48-45 final would...

West Virginia-Texas Tech Preview

With Heisman Trophy candidate Geno Smith leading the way, undefeated West Virginia is in the midst of its best start in six years. Andrew Buie's sudden emergence could make things all the more difficult on opposing defenses that are already struggling to contain the Mountaineers' high-powered offense. Smith and the fifth-ranked Mountaineers look to keep rolling Saturday...

Syracuse is Geno Smith's Kryptonite

West Virginia's Geno Smith is having the type of year other players dream about, and is now one the leading contenders for the Heisman Trophy. He's thrown 24 TDs and no interceptions so far this year and he's operating Dana Holgerson's offense with a Joey Chestnut at a hot dog eating contest like efficiency. So how do you slow down Geno? It appears the only way to...

There are 16 unbeaten teams remaining in college football so let's take a look at how they rank in comparison. Of course, the Alabama Crimson Tide are number one in points allowed per game and of the combined three rankings listed (ppg, papg, & owl). The Tide could possibly play two undefeated teams this season in Mississippi State and the SEC East division champion. Alabama...

Brendan's Heisman Ballot: Week 7

It's that time of year again people. Now that we've got half a season in the books it's time to start seriously focusing on the races for conference championships, crystal footballs, and that 25 pound stiff arm trophy that we all obsess over for two months a year. Without further ado...here's my Heisman ballot heading into Week 7. Book Your Flight to New York:...

2012 Bloguin Heisman Poll: Week Six

Week six of the college football season proved to be a separation Saturday for many of the top teams as FSU, Georgia, LSU and Texas all fell from the ranks of the unbeaten. Our Heisman front-runner, Geno Smith, had another great performance this weekend as his Mountaineers toppled the Longhorns. Would he be able to separate even more from his competitors? What you'll see...

http://www.eightlaces.com/eight-laces-top-25-week-five/Follow @Dan VastaThe West Virginia Mountaineers look as good as it gets offensively, and all of a sudden they are BCS title contenders thanks to Geno Smith putting up record-setting numbers. How one can throw for 22 TD without an INT is beyond me, but Dana Holgorsen’s offense cannot be stopped. The playmakers are playing as...
