Adamjones
In this morning's Seattle Times, Jerry Brewer makes a passionate plea for the Mariners to retain super prospect Adam Jones. Rumor has it, that Jones has been offered to the Orioles along with Jeff Clement and George Sherrill for Erik Bedard. Brewer definately makes some sense here. Most out of Seattle don't realize that Jose Guillen went .290/23/99 for the Mariners last year. Jones is projected to take his place. While Bedard is an excellent pitcher, he is 29 years old, very expensive in two years and has proven to be injury prone. Adam Jones might be the Mariners rightfielder for the next 15 years. Should the Mariners pull the trigger?

  • This is a terrible trade for the Mariners.
  • this is definately not the other Adam Jones
  • Yeah, definitely not Pacman. Rumors of this trade have been floating around the Yard for a while. I wonder if Orioles owner Peter Angelos is what's holding up the trade? He has a history of meddling in personnel decisions, often arguably to the detriment of the team.
  • If I am the Mariners, I wouldn't do it. If I am the Orioles, I'd be all over it. The Orioles three major needs are at 1B, CF and the Bullpen. Jones would join Markakis in the OF for the next 15 years. Sherril pitched very well for the Mariners last year and may be the closer the O's are looking for. He had a 2.36 ERA with just a .99 whip and struck out around 9.5 over 9 innings. Clement is a stud catching prospect who hit 20 homeruns in AAA. He would allow the Orioles to deal Ramon Hernandez. Once the Orioles other catching prospect Matt Wieters comes up, one of them can move to first to occupy the spot currently held by Kevin Milar.
  • horrible trade for the mariners. jones is finally coming around and could be an allstar starting CF for years to come. in bedard they would get a few years of quality pitching (if he stays healthy).
  • they should keep him cause they probably don't want bedard
  • I like the other Adam Jones better
  • hopefully this trade won't happen
  • I would not trade arguably the best prospect in baseball who will be a superstar with two other good prospects for a one starter if the Mariners do not get Bedard they will be fine either way.
