Fox Sports West:
USC arrived in El Paso on Wednesday for their New Years Eve Sun Bowl date against Georgia Tech.
In addition to playing in his first bowl game, El Paso could also be a source for answers for Trojans wide receiver Robert Woods.
The USC junior submitted paperwork to the NFL for a draft evaluation. As part of the process, he sent game film for evaluators to watch and in return hell get a grade and a projected draft position.
Itll help or hinder my decision depending on what it says, said Woods of the evaluation.
Also playing a role, Woods says, will be the game itself. In particular, who plays quarterback for USC in the bowl game. The status of Matt Barkley is still in question as he continues to rehab from a shoulder injury suffered against UCLA, which means backup Max Wittek could get his second career start.
Wittek started the regular season finale against Notre Dame and has received the majority of the first team reps during bowl practices in Los Angeles. Barkley still hasnt practiced and isnt expected to, at least, until the team touches down in El Paso.
If Max plays then you definitely see how that game will go and how we respond together and see what we can do next year, Woods said.
It's not a given Wittek will be the heir to Barkley next season. Head coach Lane Kiffin said the quarterback competition for Barkleys successor is still wide open.
If Woods is projected to be a first round pick, its believed that he will turn pro.
Woods has been tabbed as a wide receiver with great hands and route running ability.
This season, he caught 73 balls for 813 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last season, as a sophomore, Woods broke Keyshawn Johnsons single season conference record with 111 receptions. That record was broken this season by his teammate Marqise Lee.
After announcing earlier this month that he would forego his senior year to enter the NFL Draft, Cals Keenan Allen is expected to be the first wide receiver taken in the draft. Other early entrant wide receivers include Tennessees Justin Hunter and West Virginias Stedman Bailey.

The question: Will the Trojans be on time?
They should be to help counter the perception they are lacking in social graces.

I KNOW IT'S OVER
Lane Kiffin has announced that quarterback Matt Barkley's storied career with the Trojans is over as he will not be playing in the Sun Bowl due to an injured shoulder.
Suffice it to say, the USC Trojans had a disappointing season.
Going into the season with national championship aspirations, the team jumped out to a 6-1 start, and looked poised to at least capture a Rose Bowl bid. However, the team limped into the finish, ending out the season 7-5 (5-4 in the Pac-12) — possibly hurt the draft stock of quarterback Matt Barkley – and will find...

Lane Kiffin left the Tennessee Volunteers alone and distorted. Now TMZ is reporting Kiffin may experience the same if he is fired by USC or quits the program. Why? Apparently Lane Kiffin and the Trojans decided to skip out on the Sun Bowl dinner, named the Sheriff’s Posse Dinner, with Georgia Tech that is set up to bring the two teams together before they meet on the field. Sun Bowl organizers can’t be too happy with this, but should we expect anything more from Kiffin? If the Yellow Jackets win … karma. Bad form #USC. Hour late for Sheriff’s...

USC head coach Lane Kiffin appears to be getting in the mood for the Sun Bowl. On Wednesday, his Trojans arrived in El Paso, Tex. for their game against Georgia Tech on New Year's Eve, and take a look at what the colorful coach was wearing. Very festive. Via Deadspin.
Lane Kiffin and the USC Trojans showed up an hour and 30 minutes late to the Sun Bowl dinner because well… he is Lane Kiffin. Also, a USC Trojan lineman took to Twitter last night to call El Paso ************ on Twitter. He quickly deleted the tweet but EDSBS was quick enough to retweet it so we could show it.
