Hardball Heroes: Andre Dawson
Hardball Heroes is More Hardball’s version of the Hall of Fame. To qualify for this honor, players must have demonstrated exceptional athleticism and sportsmanship on and off the field, but whose accomplishments are not celebrated in the Hall of Fame. For May, our inductee is Andre “The Hawk” Dawson. “No player in baseball history worked harder, suffered more...

TCR Friday Notes
- Joe Posnanski writes about the case for Andre Dawson and the Hall of Fame.
3. The idea that a lack of walks is the ONLY reason Dawson has not been
elected to the Hall of Fame does not ring true for me. If Dawson had
3,000 hits, he would be in the Hall of Fame. He does not. If Dawson had
500 homers, he would be in the Hall of Fame. He does...

A Needy New Year*
*With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore
‘Twas a week after New Years’, and all through the den
Not a Brave soul was stirring, much less G.M. Frank Wren.

A A I'll be honest from the start here; Andre Dawson is and always will be my favorite baseball player of all time. A I collected every baseball card, magazine, poster, well, pretty much anything with his name on it as a kid. A For the past four years or so I keep expecting The Hawk to be [...]
