Ohio State 38, Penn State 14: The Curious Case of Matt McMorelli
If last week’s game was a tale of two halves, then this was part 2 of that story. But unlike last week’s chapter, when Penn State rallied from a 21-point deficit to win going away, well, this was the exact opposite. This time it was Penn State going up early, then imploding in the second half, unable to move the ball or stop the opposing offense. Last week, it was Penn...

Penn State considered benching Anthony Morelli for Daryll Clark? Now they tell us ...
Before last year's renaissance, quarterbacks coach and famous son Jay Paterno took a lot of heat for Penn State's usually paleolithic offense, much of it directly due to the consistent failure of Anthony Morelli to fulfill his five-star, all-world recruiting hype in 2006 and 2007. A scout summed it up before Morelli entered the '08 draft: "He has all the tools you...

More video of Joe Paterno talking to the press 07.27.2009
Penn State Nittany Lions football coach Joe Paterno gets a little more candid with reporters in the hallway, going as far to call out Anthony Morelli by name. Paterno blamed himself for holding back Daryll Clark to appease Morelli's fragile psyche. The offensive line is the big question mark going into this season, but the four years of solid-to-great line play has me not too...

Quick hits from Penn State's open scrimmage
Penn State put on a full scrimmage this weekend, and the reports coming out of it aren't evoking images of last year's offensive juggernaut. Actually, one point is making me a bit sick to my stomach:"Overall the offense looked "improved," but disappointed at times. "They'd drive right down the field and stall in the redzone and have to settle for a...

Mailbag!
While the end of Michigan's bowl streak is disappointing in and of itself, there's more than pride at stake. Specifically, I haven't heard anything about the value of the month's worth of extra practices that come with a bowl bid. It seems as though a team such as Michigan, with all ...

Cards Dominated in All Phases of Game, Lose 28-14
So, at least it was the fourth preseason game.? It was the final tune-up leading to the regular season opener in San Francisco next weekend.? If this was a regular season game, I'd be a little more than worried about the state of Arizona Cardinals football. However you cut it, the Cardinals lost to

Cards Open Preseason With 24-10 Loss to Saints
In a confusing start, the Cardinal defensive line stood strong while Drew Brees engineered a 13 play drive to march into the endzone. That drive became the microcosm of the game and possibly the blueprint to defeat the Cards. The D line held serve, causing the Saints to take to the air.

NCAA 09 Video :: Beaver Stadium leads off "Home Field Advantage"
If it weren't for the fact that my internet is slower than Anthony Morelli scrambling, I'd have this post completely ready to go. However, I can't post the video until it's downloaded, hopefully soon. I thought it is interesting that Beaver Stadium is the first venue featured in EA Sports' NCAA 09 video entitled "Home Field Advantage."
