Phillies-Padres Finale: We'll Take... Happ for the Sweep
The tough road trip is off to a great start, with the Phillies beating on the worst team they'll face on the swing and gearing up for a monster showdown with the Dodgers in LA. The questions about the Phillies' rotation remain, but the young guys (Bastardo and Happ) have stepped up better than anticipated, and the vet (Blanton) and super vet (Moyer) have regained their form...

KARSTENS PERFECT THROUGH SEVEN
Ron Florian called off today because he had a good feeling about Jeff Karstens.Turn your dial to Fox Sports Pittsburgh immediately if you haven't done so already. Jeff Karstens has a perfect game through seven innings. He's been hit hard a couple of times but he seems to have the baseball gods on his side this afternoon. He also has two singles.Douggie M and the Big Unit...

Playoff Reflections, Day Five
Cubs fans, I feel very sorry for you all -- seriously. I and probably 90% of the baseball world expected you all to just beat Arizona, but it was not to be.
The good Drew, Stephen (not J.D., sorry Ian, but I never liked him to begin with) along with Eric "Captain America" Byrnes, Chris Young and cast of others swept Chicago in three games.
They once again trumped...

Diamondbacks' week in review
This team continues to amaze. They looked down and out after dropping the first game of the Padres series last Monday, to drop out of the NL West lead for the first time since July. Facing the two pitchers with the lowest ERAs in the league, things looked tough. But Arizona beat both Chris Young and Jake Peavy, then rolled to three straight comeback wins over St. Louis. With three...

Waiver Wired: Chris B. Young
In case you have been sleeping in a fox hole the past few weeks, it's time for me to wake you up and tell you to get Chris Young on your fantasy squad. I don't care if you already have a backup of OFers, Chris Young is for real, and I'm not the only one squawking it:

Padres Ink Gonzalez to Long-Term Deal
I thought the Padres made out really well when they got Gonzalez and Chris Young from the Rangers a year ago, but this caps it off. Signing a player to a deal well before he becomes a free agent tells you exactly how an organization feels about that guy. Gonzalez plays great defense and is already showing the power that the Rangers thought wouldn't come for years. Good move by Pads.
