JAMES BROWN RUMORS & GOSSIP

'Rocky IV' Still Rocks

Back when I was a tweenager, I knew every word of dialogue of 'Rocky IV'. It was 1985 and people remember when LeBron/Kobe was actually USA/USSR. Two superpowers with completely different ideologies who were sporting elitists as well.'Rocky IV' came with the best Cold War hook. Rocky Balboa, that lovable underdog in the first three Rocky films, gets to avenge his...

Your 2009 Sports Emmy Award Nominees

Every year I post these, and every year it seems like those in the business have no idea what they're doing. The same terrible personalities are nominated (Berman, Buck, McCarver), and the same shows win every year. The only difference this year, is that the Academy actually threw a couple of curveballs at us. They've added some new people to the list, and while some are...

Chris Berman To Receive Pat Summeral Award

I'm sure Chris Berman has a ton of awards (he has been at ESPN for 30 years), but this one will be special. Berman will be given the Pat Summerall Award which of all things is given to someone who has "demonstrated character, integrity and leadership". Athens, GA (Dec 2, 2008) - Just a week after Tim Brando took on the BCS and ESPN, he offered a new opinion on the lack of minority black head coaches in Division 1-A football. This small number became even smaller with the dismissals of Ty Willingham (Washington), Sylvester Croom (Mississippi ...

My Yard is Now Ready

I have been meaning to come by my yard, and see how things were going. It seems like others have been watering their yard, and my yard needed some T.L.C. As many of you know, I now have a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I am excited to be back closer to my family and friends. San Francisco was very good to me. They have moved on, and I wish them well. I have been training...

Petitioning For More Gus Johnson

Dear CBS, We are greatly infuriated that you have replaced the venerable Gus Johnson with James "big name" Brown as one of your four play-by-play men in your Sweet 16 and Elite 8 coverage of the NCAA Tournament. We are perturbed by the fact that you have "sold out", choosing to replace the best announcer in college basketball, who also happens to have eleven...

Gus Johnson Was the Star of These First Two Rounds

My thoughts mirror Jamie Mottram's and others, Gus Johnson has been the star of the tournament. I don't remember ever thinking he was anything more than an average broadcaster, but he's picked up his game significantly. Of course, maybe I just feel like that because James Brown has been a disaster by comparison.

Cowher Added to CBS' NFL Today

Cross Cowher off the list of potential SD Chargers head coaches. Cowher will join Shannon Sharpe, Dan Marino, Norman Esiason and host James Brown on CBS pregame show. In a statement by Cowher, the former Steelers coach didn't commit to leaving CBS after one season saying it "may go beyond this year."
