JASPER BRINKLEY RUMORS

Vikings Sign Fifth-Round Pick Brinkley

When Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson was lost for the year last October, the Vikings didn’t have a clear plan to replace him. That won’t be a problem this year. The Vikings signed Jasper Brinkley Tuesday to an undisclosed contract.  The fifth-round pick from South Carolina is expected to be Henderson’s primary backup at middle linebacker. Brinkley made the [...]

Rookie Brinkley Could Be a Sleeper for the Vikings in 2009

Amid all this “Lord Favre” controversy was a nicely hidden article on gamecockcentral.com that provided further insight into new back-up middle linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings, Jasper Brinkley. Although initial scouting of Brinkley had coaches cautious about his surgically repaired knee and his ability to produce in pass coverage, he seems to have left last [...]

Fifth Round Pick: Jasper Brinkley

In my initial reactions to the draft class, I gave the pick of inside linebacker Jasper Brinkley an “A” from the get-go.  The good folks, and new friends, over at www.patriotsdaily.com were able to interview Brinkley prior to the draft and have allowed to post a small portion of the interview here at Vikings Gab.  [...]

Trade: Value In The Fifth

The Vikings struck a deal with the Redskins that allowed them to move up in round 5 to grab South Carolina linebacker, Jasper Brinkley.  Brinkley could prove to be a steal for the Vikings, as he was predicted as a third or fifth round pick.  Furthermore, if he hadn’t had a nasty knee injury in [...]

7 Days of Draftsmas: Vikings Bring in Linebacker Jasper Brinkley

The Vikings go defense again, drafting Jasper Brinkley, linebacker out of South Carolina.  For those keeping track, the Vikes have now drafted 3 men out of the SEC.  What’s the significance?  I don’t know.  A little Pee Wee Herman there to lighten up a rainy day (well, it’s rainy here anyways; you may be basking in the sun for all I know).  Here’s a video...

Round Five: Jasper Brinkley, Linebacker

Well I can’t claim I know much about linebacker Jasper Brinkley from South Carolina. The Vikes moved up nine spot to #150 to grab him. Personally, I was hoping the Vikes would take Oklahoma guard, Duke Robinson and let Robinson and 2nd Round Pick, Phil Loadholt anchor the right side of the Vikes line for years to come.It is not yet known what Minnesota gave up for this pick. More...

Updated Visit List

Before the draft each team is allowed to have private meetings with up to 30 prospects. The Vikings don’t willingly announce who they’ve brought in, but we’ve been able to compile a list of over half of those prospects. The following players have, or will soon be, visiting with the Vikings: Jasper Brinkley, MLB, [...]

Jasper Brinkley Q&A With PD

by Chris Warner chris.warner@patriotsdaily.com If you try to envision a middle linebacker suited for the Patriots’ 3-4 defensive scheme, you might think of Jasper Brinkley. At 6-foot-2, 252 pounds, Brinkley has the size. Over the past two seasons, he’s proven he has the tenacity. Having compiled 107 tackles in 2006, Brinkley considered leaving school to enter the NFL...
