My take on the selection of Tyson Alualu (also a scout report about the newest Jaguar)
I slept 5 hours before I would write about this pick without getting too too emotional about it. It is always good if you are thinking through your thoughts. I will stand by this statement… until September the Jaguars and Gene Smith have made a big reach for Alualu. Even in the most optimistic scenario, Tyson would have been selected at the end of the 1st round with the 27th...

The Jacksonville Jaguars select DT Tyson Alualu in the first round of the NFL Draft
The Jaguars have selected DT Tyson Alualu out of California with the 10th pick of the first round of the NFL Draft. This is a head scratcher as the Sporting News had Alualu rated as a 4th round pick and Pro Football Weekly had him going in the second or third round. He is a tad small at 6′2″, 291 pounds so the Jaguars will likely try to get him to add some weight to his frame...

Jags fans can’t be thrilled with Alualu pick
The Jacksonville Jaguars struggled with attendance in 2009 enough to the point where rumors had the team several months ago considering drafting Tim Tebow in the first round just to get the locals interested in the team again.
They clearly decided Tebow wasn’t worthy of going with a top 10 pick and based on the reports it’s not surprising. They may still be able to get him in...

Jaguars Select DE/DT Tyson Alualu (1st Rd, No. 10)
With the 10th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select California DT Tyson Alualu. He doesn't have the great bulk as an interior lineman in a 4-3 front or the ideal height to play end in a 3-4 scheme. Alualu shows deceptive power for his size that can push the pocket as a pass rusher as well as penetrate the line of scrimmage as a run defender. He has quick...

Despite a highly successful career at Cal, Alualu finds himself buried deep among a talented class of defensive tackles. As a four year starter, the 6-foot-3 DT started 39 consecutive games for the Golden Bears. He made his first start against...

Mock Draft Explanation: Tyson Alualu to the Colts
Every year there are two or three players chose in the 1st-round that don’t have a consensus 1st-round grade. Typically these players are selected by championship-caliber teams that have only one or two holes to fill and chose to do so through the draft.
This year, the Colts are one of those teams that could reach [...]
