Well, that was fast. For all the talk of Jadeveon Clowney and South Carolina’s defense this offseason, it was the Gamecocks’ offense that struck first to start the college football season. On the opening possession of the game, Connor Shaw dropped back and fired deep to wide receiver Shaq Roland who had outstripped his defender deep down the middle.
The result? A 67-yard touchdown...

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw got the 2013 season going in a big way with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Shaq Roland against North Carolina.
The South Carolina Gamecocks landed a nice recruit in Shaq Davidson. Davidson, a 2014 four-star wide out, picked the Gamecocks over Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and several other schools. He is ranked the No. 6 wide receiver in the country by 247Sports.
Expect him to play earlier and it will be nice seeing him opposite Shaq Roland. Can we say Shaq attack?
Shaq Roland may be a freshman, but he hasn't played like it in fall camp. South Carolina's "Mr. Football" from last year has been turning heads since his arrival over the summer and will get on the field for the first time in the season opener against Vanderbilt.
