Now that the acquittals have come down, it should be interesting to see if anyone holds Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton to the fire for basically putting these boys in jail.

  • When you or I become president of the NAACP.
  • I also find it interesting that there isn't much retribution against the girl who made these false accusations.
  • I figured she'd be on Oprah and Sharpton by now. I'm also pretty sick of listening to C. Vivian Stringer rambling on and on about how tough this has been on her team. They didn't get roughed up marching for civil rights or have the fire hoses turned on them.
  • Yeah, they should have put this much effort into their championship game. They might have won.
  • Cowboy, you sure have some problems with race don't you. Why shouldn't Stringer complain about how rough this has been on the players. They are trying to live their lives and be college students and some irrelevant 66 year old douchebag blows them up on his radio show. All of a sudden the media is shoving tape recorders in their faces and inundating them with phone calls and emails. To say that this isn't unfair to them because they are not having fire hoses turned on them is just a terrible thing to say.
  • Wow Craig, you are the 25,000th person to write this article. All 25,000 have completely missed the point. This Duke lacrosse case was a terrible situation. Jackson and Sharpton did get involved. So did thousands of media who wrote about the players guilt before facts were unearthed or there was even a trial. If you are going to demand apologies from Jackson and Sharpton make sure you demand apologies from the entire media who crucified the players as well. There are two villians in the case, the accuser and grandstanding DA Mike Nifong.
  • Jackson and Shapton are the ones who are going crazy about Imus over RACE right now. THEY are the ones who were so damn quick to nail these Duke kids to the wall to the point that Jackson offered a scholarship to the "victim." I am just pointing out that these two are LESS THAN QUALIFIED BASED ON PAST RECORD to lead any sort of charge on the subject of race and racism. They are reactionary douches who love cameras and microphones.

On top of that, I didn't write the effing article. I posted a link to an email on CNN.com.
  • We know that the media, especially with the instantaneous nature of the Internet, is driven to be first and will throw anything at the wall until something sticks, no matter how much harm they cause people. Being right should be most important. I don't think "leaders" like Jackson and Sharpton should be sounding off, making accusations until they have proof, until they have facts. With all of the mistakes they've made Sharpton and Jackson ought to know better than to trust in the word of some stranger before rushing to judge someone else. You are right about the villians but blow hards like Sharpton and Jackson certainly helped add the fuel to get the fire raging out of control.
  • All you men missed the point. People are quick to agree that the Lacrosse players were in the wrong to have a stripper. People are quick to believe jocks would make an agregious attack on a woman. People are quick to point fingers. What about the rest of those boys' lives? How come DUKE was quick to exploit and export the situation onto them, fire the COACH, and never apologize to the boys for not balancing the media coverage.
  • The real issue here is that the coach is out of a job, a few players can't play at a top school anymore and all for no reason at all. I don't see a major problem with having a stripper. Yeah, it's not the moral thing you want to hear about, but I'm sure they aren't the only college students to hire a stripper. This case should have never been taken so serious. There is no evidence to support that the girl was raped. She had enough evidence as I do. Also, I believe she had a past full of false sexual harrassment and other rape, etc. lawsuits. Duke was wrong to cancel their season and to kick some of the players off. I do see the point in wanting Sharpton and Jackson (AKA the "Racial Police") to apologize. They were quick to support the black girl for no reason other than that she was black. He probably thinks the judge is racist against black people. He should do some research on his topics before he goes off on white people.
