Indiana State hosts 2008 NCAA Division 1 Cross Country National Chamionship

Today was the NCAA D1 Cross Country National Championship meet in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was the 6th strait year that Indiana State University has hosted the National Championship event. Galen Rupp of Oregon won the individual title and his team repeted from last year as team national champions. Galen ran in the 2008 a Bejeng Olympics and simply outclassed the field today. The only other challeger was the course record holder Sam Chelanga from Libery University. Sam went out very hard and Rupp let him go through the first 3k before he made a move to catch Chelanga. Rupp and Chelanga (a product of Kenya) battled step for step for the entire race until Rupp left him with less than 400 meters left. Rupp was the individual runner up last year to Chelangas teamate Josh McDougal. My old roomate and current teamate at Indiana State Scott Kenney ran in his first NCAA National Championship today! I have not talked to him yet but I would assume he was a little dissapointed with his overall place. But he ran a pretty good race and had a great season! Congrats Keeney! I will submit this article under College Track since their is not a College Cross Country article.... I am not sure how much attention this article will get anyways! If you all have any questions about the race please feel free to send me a mesg. Indiana State will host the meet again next season! Thanks for everyone for the time and effort they put into this meet and the course throughout the year!
