I don’t do yard sales…ever. To me, one man’s junk is still just that, junk. Plus, I know for a fact that I’d never be lucky enough to pay $5 for a piece of crap only to find out later that it’s an extremely valuable piece of crap.
Take our friend Greg Estes for instance. Estes, who hails from Owenton, Ky., was doing a little yard sale shopping in the 127 Corridor Sale, billed as the world’s longest yard sale. The annual event stretches from Michigan to Alabama, and all points in between, so there’s bound to be something of value hidden amongst the used dinnerware and velvet paintings of bullfighters.
In Estes’ case there was. The Owenton resident came across what looked to be a racing bike with two flat tires and a set of broken pedals, asking price $5.
So he bought it.
