This bitter Lance Armstrong who keeps lashing out, accusing, pointing fingers cannot be the same guy who was a heartwarming, inspirational, cancer-surviving hero. But he is. It's all one Armstrong, carefully, masterfully constructed. His friends said he was on steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs? They were jealous. His teammates who said so? Dirty, money-grubbing opportunists. The feds? A plot against him. Armstrong once said he looked forward to the US Anti-Doping Agency clearing him. Now, the USADA is after him and insists he's guilty. "Spite," Armstrong said. I'm not sure exactly what the USADA hopes to accomplish by accusing Armstrong. It seems to be going after his seven Tour de France titles. It also seems desperate, with time running out on a statute of limitations, creating a new fight with the same losing weapons and spending our tax dollars to do it.
