The New York City Marathon may take place in November but Edward Norton and Crowdrise are already trying to stir up some social good. Crowdrise, a fundraising platform, has officially partnered with the marathon to raise $1 million for every mile (26.2 miles, total) through grassroots philanthropy.Users can sign onto the Crowdrise campaign page to add their own unique fundraising efforts to a digital pool. They can start their own charity team, join an existing one (all participating charities are listed) or fundraise as an individual. There are no minimum donations or requirements for joining the effort.The campaign isn’t supposed to actually oversee the $26.2 million but rather to act as a charity hub where people can gather around the spirit of giving. The hope is that by creating a central hub for the philanthropic community, Crowdrise will be able to reach more people and do more good.
