UPDATE: ESPN has issued a correction. ESPN has an article running on its homepage right now about how Donovan McNabb is encouraged by the Eagles' picks and moves. The source for the story was McNabb's Yardbarker blog. You see how I hyperlinked that so you could go read the source yourself? Yeah, ESPN didn't do that. They mentioned that he said these things "on his blog" but did not link to it nor mention Yardbarker anywhere in the article. The article goes on to quote from McNabb's post at length -- 211 words in total, which is 45% of his entire 464-word entry. There is virtually no information in the article besides a listing of the Eagles' picks and moves and quotes from McNabb's Yardbarker post. The bottom of the article notes that "Information from ESPN reporter Michael Smith and The Associated Press was used in this report." Again, no mention of Yardbarker. On the bright side, it's good to see that Yardbarker is such a respected pla...

  • Its ESPN, expecting journalistic integrity might be expecting too much.
  • But this is getting well byond ridiculous! The reporting on ESPN, whether it be on their programs or the web site, has been atrocious lately. From Sal Pal's completely made up trade rumors regarding Boldin and Gonzalez, to Micheals Smith's opionions that he has labeled reporting. Its as if ESPN has thrown out all of their journalistic integrity just to garner a few more views or gather a few more viewers to their programs. This NFL off season reporting from ESPN should be considered illeagal at least in terms of ethics. ESPN needs to apologize to its fans and to all of the sources they have miss quoted, not to mention the journalism world as a whole, for a gross display of attempting to re-write the rules of journalism and reporting for publicity.
  • well, yardbarker isn't a part of the Disney Mafia.

if they aren't getting a piece of it, they aren't interested.
you can do that when you have lawyers that can crush anyone to itty bitty little bits.

  • I did see Yardbarker mentioned today in my local paper with an article about Donovan and its the first time I've seen that. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
  • A lot of newspapers have been mentioning Yardbarker lately, which is great! Glad you caught one of the articles...
  • they mentioned it on mike & mike in the morning to. i was waiting for a yardbarker reference, but nothing mentioned. profootballtalk.com however does mention yardbarker.
  • Profootballtalk is great about citing its sources and linking where appropriate. They definitely "get it"...
  • lol and we all know im the pft junkie haha
  • Hey,AlanaG ESPN needs to step their game up and stop jocking your swagger!!
  • Yardbarker is the best. Pay them.
  • Hah, maybe now the mods on here will be forced to start paying attention.
  • paying attention to what?
  • Maybe some of the crap that goes on here. The few multi ID'ers who you continue to ignore though they are on here only to hate. You know, the ones that you continue to move their posts in a thread adding more flame to the fire.
  • Spotella I'm finding out some stuff now Alana G. is the moderator? How is she going to moderate anything when she's at the Playboy Mansion all the time? She obviously likes this drama to make SEO points. Now she wants recognition for her site....I should have known this site was run by a........
  • Thanks for responding Spotella. As Robbo24 said, I'm one of the moderators -- we have several people who do moderation here. Given the large volume of comments we get on the site every day, we can't read everything, so we rely on community flagging. Please continue to flag inappropriate comments for our attention. For big problems that can't be handled by flagging, send us an email at feedback@yardbarker.com. As for the posts moving in a thread, that's just a bug -- sometimes the order of comments gets messed up. We never move things around intentionally -- trust me, we don't have time to be doing that, and why would we want to add flame to the fire anyway?
  • I left several e-mails at your feedback address and have never seen anything done nor have I ever heard anything back from you guys! These multi ID'ers are out of control on the NFL section.
  • I know you're a moderator which is why I am pointing out that I and many others see what you're doing. You can tell me you don't have time but there is no way anyone can NOT see who the problem children are. I have sent e-mail in the past and I've NEVER been replied to.
  • "Bug" you say, must be a convenient bug, or a convenient fiction, shouldn't take this long ma'am and your spin control is weak for the poor mangement of this site. I missed the reason why you're not affiliated with AOL.
  • Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. I know you're frustrated with some of these bugs, we all are. I might not be able to convince you that we aren't doing things like changing comment order on purpose, but it's the truth, even if it might seem otherwise. Anyway, I hope you at least think we're doing enough things right to stick around the site and continue to contribute as you have been! As for the feedback emails, we do try to reply to all of them, but Spotella I just sent you a private message to try to figure out which ones of yours we didn't respond to. And robbo24, if you're really interested in why I'm no longer working at AOL, coincidentally a blogger actually mentioned it today (halfway down the article). If you follow the link trail, you can do all sorts of snooping on me if you want! http://mgoblog.com/content/unverified-voracity-feels-soil-falling-over-its-head
  • wubanga101 I sent you a private message on your account...
  • Well Alana G. I had a run in or two with "Bean Counters" myself and I appuad you for striking out on your own, but you have to clean this mess up. Your support staff is way to lax ma'am you have a great group on this site and I know many who came and left because of the poor management of the bad bloggers. This site would be much larger if you reigned in the bad bloggers, and keep them from attacking people for one. No one is going to put up with being attacked this way and then when you attack back your comments disappear all of a sudden, no you don't know frustration, and these attack dogs seem to have free reign. You might consider paying more attention to addressing customer service issues more aggressively is all I'm saying. Or suffer the exodus of good hearted articulate bloggers with a word or idea worth listening too.
  • as long as we're getting into problems on this site, I think I'll add one. Apollokid posted a very well thought out response to the post Change we can believe in, however since he did not agree with Obama it got deleted. He followed all three rules of the yard in the comment, but because it was actually an intelligent argument about his 100 days in office it got deleted. Plenty of people who talk about how Bush was horrible, yet their comments didnt get deleted. People should be allowed to post whatever they want whether they agree or disagree with Lord Obama as long as they follow the three rules of the yard, which Apollokid did.
  • Hey rustysrf89 -- I think I know the comment you were talking about, and it was an intelligent and thoughtful comment (although I don't agree with it). If you look on the article, the comment is there. I believe it got removed in error. We definitely want people to post their opinion whatever it is, as long as it follows the rules of the Yard as you said (and Apollokid did). Thanks for pointing it out -- our moderation system is not perfect, so thanks for the continued feedback.
  • I'm just happy Donovan is on here blogging. He's the BEST!
  • I'm just happy Donovan is on here blogging. He's the BEST!
  • Sorry, computer is acting funky!
  • Don't be sorry, that's worth repeating!
  • Yeah, I noticed that, too. All this talk about McNabb's blog yet no mention of YB. Even Eskin talked about his blog, and never mentioned the source.
  • I caught the sports segment on ABC Philadelphia's local news last night, they quoted that article and gave due credit to yardbarker, they mentioned the site name before the quote and placed the URL of the site at the top of the screen when the quote was displayed. It was nice to see.

Of course, I'm not surprised that ESPN doesn't offer the same courtesy. I guess they figure since yardbarker is just a medium for McNabb's words, they don't deserve recognition.
  • Big up to ABC Philadelphia! Thanks for pointing that out...
  • espn can suck on my balls!
  • Here is the truth. Blogs are taking over. We are smarter, more entertaining and more interesting. Time for the Old guard to move on and time for us to move in.
  • I'm not too sure about that buddy, most blogs are poorly managed like this one, and you have a lot of ramblings like this one.....I got to admit if the old gaurd left we would be stuck with this trash....They serve a purpose.
  • [not displayed: comment from locked account]
  • I noticed this immediately and thought it was especially in poor taste given how much of his post they cited.
  • They do this with every post of his...its NOTHING NEW. On some of their shows they'll even mention YB. CSN uses his posts too and always say yardbarker.com
  • ESPN is well know for rewriting other people's stories into their own hand. Happens all the time with football news. They'll take another reporter's scoop slap "John Clayton reports" and make it seem like ESPN broke the story. All their guy did was read the news somewhere else, call up the person involved to confirm it, then it is their story.

  • on sportscenter when they were saying that he posted this they put yardbarker.com at the bottom of the quote they read.
  • alana, don't you realize that espn is full of a bunch of poo flinging monkeys that don't have time to edit or even READ what they say?

  • The Curt Schilling / Jose Canseco one was classic. That had to be an inside joke for some funny crew member right? SO BAD. As for the other one, hey no one can ever remember who plays in Charlotte these days... Bobcats? who?... haha....
  • they need to pay me to edit for them. i would make them look so much better ;)
  • I noticed it on NFL Network yesterday while watching Total Access. I had just finished reading it on here and then looked up and they were reporting on it. They did say "Donovan's blog" but the graphic had Yardbarker.com as the source. I thought it was cool!
  • Stealing pictures is against our terms of use. When you find a violation, please email us.
  • So if we e-mail you with the people who have taken pictures out of our accounts what will you do?
  • We can remove the picture and contact the user to remind them not to steal pictures (or to give them a chance to say that it really is their picture). If someone continues to break the rules, we can escalate the discipline.
  • Update: ESPN has issued a correction! If you click over to the article now it credits Donovan's Yardbarker blog at the bottom.

  • how dare they?!!!!!!!
  • Say word what's with all the "HATE"? AlanaG got thumbs down are you serious?? Anyways,I feel that ESPN and any other show that speaks to athletes that blog on YB,the show should mention YardBarker as the source..
  • I can care less where the story came from as long as it's right and if McNabb is not making a big deal about it then nobody else should
