Found November 30, 2009 on Stupid Sports Blog:
Hi, everyone. This is Jake Gyllenhaal. I came across this blog a couple months ago not long after I came across my boyfriend. LOL Kidding! I know the running joke here is that I'm gay, but I can assure you that's not true. However, I e-mailed the Stupid Sports Blog guys over the last couple months and they talked me into doing some writing here for a day.

Getting our schedules synchronized wasn't easy, but here we are. Be sure to check out my new movie "Brothers" which opens Friday, Dec. 4. It stars myself, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman. It's a thriller and I think you would enjoy it. Now to the sports.

The first sport I'd like to write about is the UFC. It's awesome. Two men just brutalizing each other in a no-holds barred, testosterone-fueled orgy of violence. It's extremely popular in a lot of places out here in Los Angeles, but a lot of the best fights are between up-and-comers and they aren't even televised or heavily attended.

Last week, I was out in West Hollywood at what I guess was a UFC satellite event, where the winner gets a contract with the main company. The fighters weren't big or muscular or brooding like the popular fighters. The one guy was 105 pounds and wearing purple spandex and a yellow scarf and the other guy had assless chaps and a cowboy hat. But the chaps were on backward, which added an element of danger and showmanship to the proceedings.

There was a lot more slapping and crying than in other UFC fights, but I really enjoyed what these two men did in front of the dozen or so people at this bar. There was no fear or shame. Even when the guy with the purple spandex lost pants during the bout, he didn't hold back. He jumped on top of the assless chaps guy and just sat on his face for a good five minutes. Really a great bout.

What Dana White has done to get that sport to where it is speaks highly of his talents as a promoter. The way he's thrust these half-naked barbarians out of these West Hollywood bars and into the homes of millions is something special. I really look forward to the next bout I get to see, whether it's in the comfort of my home or out in secluded West Hollywood bar, I know for sure I'm going to enjoy it thoroughly.

Maybe I'll even compete one day! LOL!
