Jay Leno has been telling producers and comedians to lay off President Trump jokes, which Leno says make late-night television “depressing” despite his sharing many current network hosts’ feelings about Trump.

The advice does not appear to be sticking, which is probably why Leno is laying low these days. But just because the 67-year-old icon doesn’t enjoy politics doesn’t mean he can’t get along with politicians. Especially for the sake of charity.

Leno teamed with former President George W. Bush to auction a magnificent 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Carbon 65 coupe at the Barrett-Jackson complex in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday.

Soon after tweeting out the photo, Barrett-Jackson’s Facebook gave hot-rod fans an update:

With the help of George W. Bush and Jay Leno, this 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Carbon 65 Edition for $1.4 MILLION! 100% of hammer price to benefit George W. Bush Presidential Center's Military Service Initiative.

Posted by Barrett-Jackson on Saturday, January 20, 2018

Proceeds will go to Bush’s Military Service Initiative.

The former POTUS also reportedly got to drive the car before giving it away, a nice treat that we’re sure had nothing to do with the choice of auction prize. Bush is currently nowhere to be found on SNIPdaily’s Texas Rangers Top 40 data, strange given his recent popularity and deep involvement with the MLB franchise.

Here’s a better look at the Corvette:
